It has been a hot favorite among the semi-urban and rural areas of India. Bolero has been the mass seller in Mahindra’s lineup and has been India’s largest selling SUV for a long time now.
Now the good news is that, AutoCar has scooped that Mahindra is developing a new generation of the Bolero (Code: U301) along with a new chassis. The new Bolero is expected to be better in many parameters than the existing one, but the true Bolero DNA will be retained.
A fresh design with a newly developed chassis. This new chassis is expected to be lighter and stronger than the existing tubular frame ladder chassis. The new chassis is touted to be a hydroformed ladder chassis and is expected to find place in all body-on-frame SUVs in future.
As for the powertrain, the new Bolero might use an engine derived fro the mHawk engine. To keep the price tag low, M&M will make the Bolero share a good number of parts with its other SUVs. Since Bolero majorly sells because it is an entry-level rugged SUV, Mahindra would keep running cost and fuel efficiency of the new Bolero low. This new generation Bolero is expected to hit the showrooms by 2015.
