Mahindra Reva Gets Awarded IGBC ‘Platinum’ Rating

Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. has been awarded ‘Platinum’ Rating from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), becoming the first automobile manufacturer to get this certificate.The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) establishment, IGBC enables the construction industry to be environmentally sensitive.

On this occasion, Dr Pawan Goenka, President, Automotive & Farm Equipment Sectors, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said, “Mahindra Reva is all about creating the future of mobility solutions for sustainable living. With our new clean and green manufacturing facility at Mahindra REVA, we are in the process of establishing new benchmarks within the automobile industry. The IGBC Platinum Certification will go a long way in inspiring and enhancing our vision for a cleaner tomorrow”.

Mr C Shekar Reddy, Chairman IGBC- Hyderabad Chapter & President, CREDAI Andhra Pradesh said, “This milestone has further consolidated India’s leadership role in promoting green buildings. We are confident that that many more companies in India will go the ‘Green’ way”.

Reva has also been awarded as India’s “Cool Companies” by Business World India in 2006. In the year 2008 it was the recipient of the Frost & Sullivan Automotive Powertrain Company of the Year award and in 2010 Reva i become the Green Car of the Year at the Overdrive and CNBC TV18 awards.

What is Indian Green Building Council (IGBC):

IGBC was established by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to enable the construction industry to be environmentally sensitive. IGBC is a consensus driven not-for-profit council representing the building industry, consisting of more than 1,300 committed members.
