Mahindra S101/ XUV100 Inches Closer to Launch; Spied with New Alloys & Snazzy Camouflage

After the fairly successful ladder frame Compact SUV TUV300, Mahindra is readying their monocoque S101 micro SUV which, according to a widespread belief, may be called as XUV100. What makes the S101 really interesting is its expected positioning. After not being able to make a mark in softer cars market (with Veritos), Mahindra will be trying something new. The S101 will be a muscular product which may be promoted as a soft-crossover against the B-segment hatchbacks like WagonR and others.

It has been spotted yet again by Motor Vikatan and as we are nearing its launch (expected within a few months), the overall body appears to be production-ready. The spied test mule wears a snazzy camouflage and new set of alloy wheels which look interesting. However, we are not sure if it is the angle, S101 looks real tall, compressed and disproportionate in both the pics.

Also notice the Beat-like door handles for the rear doors and that bunch of pipes which move from under the body into the insides of the car. On the S101, Mahindra will introduce new petrol engines along with a diesel motor, which may be the same 1.5 liter diesel engine from the TUV300.

On the inside, the seats are joined and the gear lever is dashboard mounted liberating more space. Price of S101/XUV100 is expected to be real aggressive to make a dent in the segment where Mahindra is not known. Do not be shocked if it gets launched at introductory prices of Rs 3.99 Lakhs or under!
