March 2012 Sales: Hyundai Motor India posts 7 pc rise in March sales

Just as we had reported that Hyundai USA is on the verge of registering a blistering month of sales in the US, Hyundai Motors India also reported 6.62 percent increase in total sales in March this year. The company said it had sold 55,552 units last year in March. This year the monthly sale went up to 59,229 units.

In the domestic market, the monthly sales volumes increased 22.94 percent to 39,122 units from 31,822 in the same month last year. While export market have faced a decline of 15.27 percent to 20,107 units from 23,730 units in March 2011.

We could meet our expectations in March as there was considerable interest to beat the expected price hike in the Union Budget. The market continues to pose many challenges and things can improve if interest rates come down this quarter” HMIL Director (Marketing and Sales) Arvind Saxena said.

The report states that Hyundai Motors sold 51,336 units of A2 segment cars(Eon, Santro, i10 and i20), 7,679 units of A3 segment cars(Accent and Verna), 92 units of A5 segment(Sonata) and 122 units of SUV Santa Fe during the March month this year.
