March 2012 Sales: Toyota Registers 87 Percent Growth

It was a fantastic month for Toyota Kirloskar Motor as they registered a very impressive 87 percent rise in its vehicle sales for March 2012 as they sold 18,220 units as compared to 9726 units sold in March 2011.

The major driver to overall sales have been their Etios siblings as they registered their highest ever sales. Etios sedan registered 57 percent rise in its sales. It sold 5104 units in March 2012 as compared to 3,257 units sold in March 2011. Toyota managed to sell 4034 units of its Etios Liva hatch which also happen to be the highest so far.

Innova in its latest avatar registered 53 percent growth in sales by registering 6765 units in Mar 2012 against 3257 units in March last year. Company’s flagship SUV, Fortuner, which is facing a lot of competition, also registered 41 percent increase in sales as it sold 1379 units over 980 units in Mar 2011. Mid-sized sedan Corolla Altis sold 917 units in the month under concern.

If we compare month on month sales, Toyota sold 16,659 units in Feb 2012 an increment of 9% over Feb 2012 figures. The only car which has shown a negative growth is Corolla Altis. Altis was higher in both March 2011 and Feb 2012. However, the company is not expecting the similar growth patterns for April 2012 because of added excise and other taxes.
