SCOOP: Is That Celerio Diesel Making Generator-Like Sound? Spied With Video!

We have brought to you a lot of exclusive details of Celerio’s upcoming diesel variant including its expected power output, impressive fuel efficiency figures and the high NVH levels the company is trying to minimize.

In a first of its kind, the guys at Gaadiwaadi.com are claiming to have snapped the Celerio diesel being road tested along with an A-Star mule badged as Alto (A-Star is sold in various markets as Alto).

The number plates hint at them being belonging to Maruti’s Gurgaon plant, the driver also appears to be some company official from his attire and the biggest suspicion is the spotting of all of them exactly outside the Maruti’s plant before they reportedly sneak inside.

So, it almost gets cleared that these are test mules. Maruti already has on offer the CNG as well as the AMT version and there is nothing apart from diesel which Maruti should be testing on them. The badges at the rear have also been removed.

But what comes as a conclusive evidence is the video these guys have shot roaming around one of the test mule. A-N-D the sound it produces is certainly diesel and it can aptly be compared with the output our household generators produce..its so loud! They say, the harsh sound is heard even at a distance of 15 feet from the car.

Like we have been telling you, Maruti is battling with extreme NVH levels on this 2 cylinder 0.8L engine, which will be their first diesel motor ever. Launch of Celerio diesel is expected sometime in early 2015 but before that, this diesel engine will go to their first commercial vehicle which has been codenamed as Y9T and MotorBash has the exclusive spyshots of a few of its test mules (here).
