When it comes to motorsports, there is a certain breed that does not like the idea of going around a loop of perfectly laid asphalt for a couple of hours and calling it a day. For these people, the only thing that would get their adrenaline flowing would involve racing on loose soil, gravel, and more of such stuff while passing through unseen and unfamiliar territories for hundreds or even thousands of kilometers.
And if the participation in the Raid De Himalaya, Desert Storm, and other rallies is anything to go by, we have always had a huge population of such nutters and they, the rallies and enthusiasts, are increasing exponentially.
That explains Maruti Suzuki ‘s sixth edition of the “Dakshin Dare” rally that would start on August 4 and finish on August 9. Maruti Suzuki has been successfully running the Raid de Himalaya and Desert Storm in the northern and western parts, respectively, and the Dakshin (Hindi for South) Dare has the participants traveling through the Southern Peninsula of the country.
The race will begin in Bangalore and the participants will be speeding through Mysore, Shimoga, Chitradurga, Davengere, Bellary, Hospet, and Hubli covering almost 2000 km at the finish line in Goa.
Maruti is expecting this edition to be the largest in terms of participation and the event is open to both men and women who would be competing under three categories – Ultimate Car category, Ultimate Bike Category and Endure Category. All the participants and vehicles will be scrutinized for safety and compliance.
