Following the increase in excise duty in this year’s budget, every car has announced, has increased or is in the process of announcing a price hike in their lineup. Country’s largest seller Maruti has joined the race by increasing prices of its cars by 1.75 percent. As a result the cars would become dearer by upto Rs 17,000.
While the entry car Alto F8 would be dearer by Rs 4200 to 5900, Maruti’s sedan SX4 would be costlier by Rs 9400 to 17000. You can check out the impact of hikes on respective cars in the attached pic. There would be proportionate increase on other cars from the stable as well like the Estilo, Ritz, A-Star etc.
Just to refresh, this round of hikes is being announced by every manufacturer to compensate for the increase in excise duty by at least 2% across all the car categories announced in this year’s budget.
