A reworked SUZUKI Splash aka Maruti Suzuki Ritz it may look but Ertiga is more ‘elongated a bit’ Maruti Suzuki Swift. With two engine options.
Yes, a petrol 1.4 Litre K-Series VVT(Variable Valve Timing) pumping out 94 bhp 130 Nm of torque and a VGT(Variable Geometry Turbo) 1.3 Litres pumping out 89 bhp and a whooping 200 Nm of torque, and both will be pleasure to drive along with some awesome fuel economy numbers. ARAI certifies 16.02 kpl for the petrol and 20.77 for the diesel, Ertiga hits the 100 kph mark in 12.1 and 13.9 seconds, respectively for petrol and diesel. Top speed remains identical to Swift and Ritz at 160 kph for both the engine options. And when We say that Ertiga is Swift, it indeed is, not only technically but visually as well. Interior is quite ‘Swift’ and not much difference is there.
Also, the ZDi variant gets the adjustable middle row of seats thus getting ample leg room for the last row passengers. So, 7 persons can seat comfortably and then there’s tilt adjustable steering. Though, no Climate Control but Dual Air-Con, 2 Air Bags and ABS are there to keep you safe and cool. Well, most of the time.
And finally without that ‘riding-in-a-boat’ like feeling, Ertiga surely is more of a car than a Van. And if you’re an enthusiastic driver opt for the rev loving petrol and if you love cruising, opt for the diesel, no matter what, if you love driving with companions, Ertiga is sure to make you say ‘Wow’ for quit some time.
We liked the initial impression of the car and We hope this car too, will taste the success laid by Maruti 800 to all it’s successors. The plastic is good, material right now feels good too, just wait till 11th April and check this space you will read Ertiga in all it’s glory and the shadows(if there are any).
We await the price list for this MPV from the biggest car manufacturer of the country right now though.
