Maruti Suzuki has introduced Automated Manual Transmission in the ZXi variant of the Celerio. The car, first launched at the 2014 Auto Expo in February, was the first car to get AMT in India. However the benefit of AMT was available only in the base LXi and mid VXi variants and the ZXi now joins the lineup as a more luxurious option.
The company has not revealed the prices of the Celerio ZXI AGS (Auto Gear Shift) on their website at the time of this article going online but upon contacting a dealership in the capital we got to know that the car sports a price tag of Rs 4,99,999 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
If we talk exteriors, in comparison to VXi AGS, the ZXi AGS gains body coloured electronic ORVMs with integrated indicators, door handles, Audio system with radio, CD, USB, Aux in, Bluetooth and controls on steering wheel with 4 speakers, rear wiper and the convenience of tiltable steering.
However, when you compare with the top of the line ZXi (optional) which is sold at Rs 4.96 Lac (ex-Delhi), the car misses out on fog lamps, passenger side airbag, alloy wheels, driver seat height adjustment and ABS. Interestingly, the advert on their website does show passenger side airbags which is not there in the features list.
The Celerio ZXi AGS is powered by the same K10B engine with the same power and torque output. Displacing 998 cc, the engine produces 68 PS of maximum power at 6,000 rpm and 90 Nm of peak torque at 3,500 rpm.
