One of the biggest blockbusters for Maruti has been its Swift hatchback. Waiting period is one thing which has become synonymous with the car. Depending upon places, waiting period is as high as 10 months at some places.
To reduce waiting period of Swift and to regain customers lost due to it, Maruti has increased production of the car from 12,000 units to 20,000 units monthly which, according to the company, would bring the waiting period down by 2 months from 6.5 to 4.5 months. This might also be done to ensure Ertiga doesn’t eat up into Swift’s sales. Maruti is also not considering the CNG option for the car citing government’s unclear plan towards CNG stations across the country.
