Maruti’s Upcoming Vitara Brezza (YBA) Compact SUV: Some Exclusive Sneaking Dope

Maruti Suzuki has been trying hard to break into the compact SUV and crossover segment. The first attempt was with the SX4 sedan based S-Cross which also marked the debut of the bigger 1.6 litre Multijet diesel engine in India. Targeting the Duster and Creta, the S-Cross will be further assisted by their upcoming compact SUV. Today, we have some exclusive dope on YBA, which will, indeed, be called as Vitara Brezza, yes the weird name will stay for our market.

It will be a sub four meter offering and will target the Ford EcoSport and will be powered by the familiar 1.3 litre diesel mill sourced from Fiat. Maruti has finally decided to offer the car in the 90 PS Variable Geometry Turbocharged version. We do not have any word or confirmation if there will be a 75 PS version on offer and we believe it will NOT be present!

However, the Vitara Brezza will NOT come with any automatic or AMT gearbox upon launch. They may bring in an Auto/AMT variant in the future but the initial product will only be available with the manual gearbox at least for the initial few months. Our source also tells us that the Vitara Brezza will be available in a dual tone colour scheme!

And regarding its launch – The production Vitara Brezza will be unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016 which will, in all probability, also mark its launch along with the official price revelation. So, all of you who have been waiting for a worthy EcoSport-rival, Maruti is all set to go guns blazing. Now, go and spread the word…. 🙂

  1. The Vitara name symbolises Maruti’s second biggest failure in the Indian market (the first being the Kizashi) and yet Maruti not only chooses to continue to brand the new SUV Vitara and to make things worse adds Brezza to it. Now all it needs to do is send people to buy in the Nexa showroom and price the product too high. To me that seems like a sure fire way of breaking the egg so that it does not hatch at all.
