Mercedes Benz is set to recall 127 units of G500 and G55 AMG variant cars in China over an issue related to Airbags. The company will start the recall process from September 29. General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China said in a statement, cars of those two aforesaid models which were manufactured between September 30, 2010 and April 27, 2011 are affected.
The statement reveals that there could be a possible defect in welding of the band that fixes the frontal airbags to the cover board may come off when the airbags are deployed, thus posing safety threats to passengers. Mercedes Benz will perform the checks and replacement completely free of cost.
