The earlier speculations of May 2013 launch of Mercedes’ most important car – A-Class hatchback in India are gaining momentum now.

Mr Adil Jal Darukhanawala, Editor of ZigWheels has tweeted that Mercedes has two important product launches in May, in turn revealing the date of A-Class as 30th of the month. The launch, he says, is scheduled in Mumbai whereas the GL-Class, according to the official invitation we have received, is launching in Delhi on 16th May.

Meanwhile, Mercedes has also started teasing the A-Class on its official Facebook page as well as Twitter. The tagline reads “Are you the pulse of A party?” with the following pic.

Readers of MotorBash were among the first ones in the country to check out clear all-round spyshots of the A-Class which was caught testing in Pune back in November last year. Mercedes A-Class will be company’s most affordable and the smallest car in India.

We expect Mercedes to offer the A180 as well as A200 variants of A-Class with engine options ranging from 1.5L to 1.8L in both petrol and diesel guise. Mercedes A-Class will form a new segment of luxurious hatchbacks in India which will be later joined by a few others from the competition. And hence, Mercedes will take all measures to take advantage of being the first mover here.
