Mercedes has been dethroned from being the leader of the luxury car market but it plans to bounce back and regain its long lost glory. Mercedes has just revealed plans for 2013 for the Indian market and it looks like the German compatriots, the Audis and BMWs are going to have a tough time keeping off the wounded tiger in their one of the most important car markets.
Here is the list of New Mercedes’ Coming to India this Year
- New 2013 Mercedes GL 350
- Mercedes B-Class Diesel
- Mercedes CLA Sedan (sedan version of A-Class)
- Mercedes A-Class hatchback
The first in the line will be an all new GL class SUV which will be the flagship of the carmaker in the year 2013 for the Indian car market and has been recently caught testing in India. The 7-seater will borrow cues from the M-class SUVs and will be slotted above the M-class and it will compete with the Audi Q7. In its current avatar, the car has never really managed to sell well in the country but in a revamped version, it might just replicate the success of its younger sibling, the M-Class.
The current most affordable Mercedes in India is the recently launched B-Class Sports MPV which is only available in petrol. And one of the most awaited launches from these Germans will be the B-class sports tourer’s diesel guise. It would be the 1.8 litre diesel heart giving out 134 horses of power.
The biggest launch of all those which the company has in pipeline will be the CLA sedan which has been showcased at the Detroit Motor show. CLA is basically the sedan version of A-Class and will be the least priced luxury sedan in the country once its reaches our shores and is expected to bring in a lot of volumes of the company.
The summer of 2013 will see the A-class being launched and will be built on MFA platform like the B-Class sports MPV and the CLA sedan. We expect Mercedes’ baby A-Class to get the same 1.8L turbo diesel mill but will there be a petrol in the offering is what remains to be seen. And before we forget, the E-Class facelift will also reach a Mercedes showroom near you in 2013. They’ve got it all. Be it the volume products or the high end luxury offerings. And the wounded lion is back.
