Mitsubishi adds extra ‘Funny’ seats to Outlander

Only a few days back we witnessed the launch of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, and now Mitsubishi-HM India has quietly introduced the 7-Seater version of the Outlander. This 7-Seater version of the Outlander shares the same specifications with the existing 5-seater version.

The third row seat is impractical since it’s very thin and hardly can accommodate any adult person or even kids! The ‘Card-Board-Like Padding’ is so poor that it’s inadequate for supporting the legs and the buttocks, even for short distance rides! The good things about this Variant are, the third row seat is foldable to extract more luggage space and it’s cheap by almost INR 1 Lakh than the 5-Seater variant (Mitsubishi really leaves us scratching our heads by making this move). The 7-Seater variant will be called Outlander LX and is priced INR 19.95 Lakhs ex-showroom.

This 7-seater Outlander is powered by the same existing 2.4-Litre in-Line 4 Cylinder MIVEC Petrol Motor that produces 166.6 BHP of power and 226 Nm of torque. A 6-Speed CVT gearbox is mated with the petrol motor which allows the car to do 0-100 kmph in below 10 seconds and reach a top speed of 190 kmph. The existing 5-Seater Outlander is powered by the same motor and returns a fuel efficiency of around 10 kmpl.

Another 7-Seater version of the Outlander has been showcased at the Geneva International Motor Show which turns out to be more realistic and useful in terms of 3-Row sitting arrangement. Now the big question remains, when will the diesel variants of the Outlander hit the roads? ‘Cause this is the main reason that makes the Outlander a ‘not-so-popular’ SUV in the Indian Car Market.
