This appears to be the most stringent and possibly the toughest time Tata Motors is going through. It is majorly because of their lack of future vision when they were doing good.

They continued to let the competition run over them and are now pushed way back in terms of monthly sales tally. Nonetheless, the company has taken some serious cognizance of the situation and has planned to pull their socks in their complete car manufacturing process, specially the quality betterments as they have been accused of producing sub-quality products.

2014-Tata-Vista-Facelift

Apart from refreshing their complete lineup in the market, Vista is going for a serious makeover. One of our reader has shared this spyshot of the new Vista mule doing test runs somewhere in Pune.

The car has lost some camouflage, however, its not enough for us to ascertain the actual body changes. What we can make out is very little:

  1. Different and possibly more aggressive grille
  2. Restyled air dam
  3. Restyled front bumper
  4. Slightly Refreshed headlamps

However, most of the car appears to be similar to the current version on sale and this is where we become wary! Vista needs a comprehensive makeover and not really eenie-meenie jobs what this mule subscribes us to think. The presence of camouflage, however, makes us feel that Tata will (and should) work on it more to ensure it hits the bulls-eye when the company decides to launch it in the market. However, our source tells us that the rear is what will go through major changes.

In terms of engine options, it goes without saying that the Fiat sourced 1.3L Quadrajet diesel engine will be present, quite possibly in both the 75PS and 90PS tunes. 1.2L FIRE petrol motor is also expected to be carried over, but its the BS3 compliant 1.4L TDI mill that, we feel, will be kicked out. In place, the more modern 1.4L CR4 diesel engine should find place. MotorBash already has exclusive spyshots of Tata testing the CR4 motor on the current Vista. (Check them here)

An official peek is expected in the 2014 Auto Expo and a launch thereafter appears to be very much on the cards.

Yet again, we say, Tata please call the new Vista as ‘2014 Tata Vista’ and NOT ‘2014 Tata Indica Vista’!!!

It’s not only tata, but almost all the manufactures in india are going through tough times. Maruti being the cheap car makers in india have already stopped production of certain models and trying to merge certain classes. Even at my place 2012 make swift diesels are waiting for takers. And about other manufactures needless to say…

Yup almost every manufacturer is under pressure and suffering in these downtimes..
However, other manufacturers have something interesting lined up in the future…
However, Tata doesn’t appear to have anything which can turn their fortunes when the market will upswing…

This seems a minimal change thing. The headlights for all practical purposes look the same. The grille too seems to be the same is the front bumper. So is the CR4 version of the Vista testing? Probably. The picture of the car without disguise which appeared on Team-Bhp looked like a photoshop job. I am not very hopeful about anything significant happening here given the current state of the economy of the country. The camouflage is probably to generate some interest in the car. But minimal changes may prove counter productive after raising the expectations of potential buyers.
