With the launch of Mobilio, Honda has signaled their intent to gun down the Ertiga from the top throne in the compact MPV segment. While the Amaze has been successful but it has not dented Dzire’s sales a wee bit.
The compact sedan segment has broadened with times however the MPV segment may be slightly different and whatever volumes Mobilio garners, majority of them may belong to Ertiga.

The difference between both the cars starts from about Rs 65,000 for the base variants and goes on to a whooping Rs 1.4 Lakhs for the top of the line variants and this will be more on the on-road prices. Add to this the very impressive current discounts of over 50,000 on Ertiga and Mobilio suddenly seems to be priced a segment higher.
Based on the Brio platform, this is Honda’s third car in India and it will definitely enjoy larger economies of scale. Honda could have priced it more competitively starting from Rs 50,000 lesser on the base and mid variants and about a lakh lesser on the top of the line trims.
