There is not even a zilch of a doubt that the new diesel engine in the arsenal has given Honda the much-needed second life in the Indian market.
And the company is smart enough to make full use of the new-found energy and interest of customers. Honda has shared the official February 2014 sales release with us and we are left completely bowled over by what they have to tell.
Let us share a few quick pointers:
- Total domestic sales: 14543 units
- Growth of 123%
- Growth of 83% in April-February 2014 period
- Amaze continues momentum with over 6000 monthly sales
- Star of the season: New City registers B-segment hatch like sales of whooping 7213 units
For the month of February 2014, Honda registered total domestic sales of 14543 units which is a growth of 123% over the corresponding February 2013’s sales of 6510 units. For the cumulative sales from April 2013 till February 2014, Honda registered a growth of 83% by selling 115,913 units over 63,439 cars in the same period last financial year.
The star of the show, undoubtedly, remains the new City which garnered total sales of 7213 units which should definitely put it in the top 10 selling cars of the month. From the first month of sales itself, City is back to the top displacing Verna and Vento.
Continuing its strong momentum, Amaze registered total sales of 6030 units for Feb. Brio and CRV registered 1235 and 65 unit sales respectively.
Honda also exported 252 units taking the grand total to 14795 sales for the complete month. Honda also informed that deliveries of Petrol City have started from February and with their second Tapukara plant functional, they are working on reducing the waiting period of their cars.
It would be interesting to see how would City span out after this initial hype and what levels does it settle on to!
