Next-Gen Ford Ka & Ka+ (Figo & Figo Sedan) Clicked on a Trailer in Brazil

While the Brazilians were busy with the World Cup, Ford Brazil has started with the dispatches of their upcoming Ford Ka (Figo hatchback) and Ka+ (Figo compact sedan), most probably to dealerships as these spyshots tell us courtesy Noticias Automotivas.

This signals that the launch is pretty close and may take place anytime this month or early next month. The report says that there were at least 5 total cars – 3 Ka hatchbacks and 2 Ka+ sedans. While 2 of the hatchbacks were shod with alloy wheels, the remaining one had wheel caps and did not have fog lamps. One of the Ka+ had alloy wheels whereas the other one was devoid of it, confirming different variants. All the Ka were painted in silver and both the Ka sedans were wine colored.

The next-gen Ka sedan is an elongated version of the new Ka hatch and will mark its debut in Brazil. The cars are eagerly awaited, both in Brazil as well as India. Called as the Figo in India, the hatchback is expected to replace the current car on sale whereas the Figo sedan will be an all-new product for our market.

Brazilian Ka sedan will be a proper sized car whereas the Figo Sedan India will get will be shorter and under that sub 4 meter mark in length. Hopefully the Indian Figo and Figo sedan will get the 1.0L EcoBoost engines, and not be ostracized like the newly launched Fiesta! The Brazilian Ka and Ka+ will be getting a new 1.0L ethanol friendly mill, which is actually a modified version of the EcoBoost.

The Figo sedan concept shown during the Auto Expo has a lot of expectations and according to what we have seen, it might end up being the best looking compact segment in India. It will be a replacement for the ageing Ford Classic (read old Fiesta) and we expect very competitive prices.

While there has been no official confirmation from Ford India, but both these cars are expected to be launched sometime early next year.
