The D-segment is getting hotter each passing day as we get to see some hot excitement in the form of newer launches, revamps and some exciting products in the offing. The two most recent additions to this segment have been Volkswagen Jetta 1.4TSI petrol and the diesel missile new Chevrolet Cruze.
If you just thought that was it! Hyundai, one of the most aggressive manufacturers in India, comes to the scene. The Korean car maufacturer is all set to launch their D-segment sedan Elantra, known as Avante in some international markets, in India very soon.
Many of you would be familiar with this name ‘Elantra’ and yes, this is the same brand that we had in India many years back. The exception here is that the new Elantra we get now has skipped a generation in between for the Indian market. This is Elantra’s 5th generation model which we would be sharing with the world.
About Elantra:
Hyundai’s latest fluidic design theme seems to have worked wonders for the company. Whatever they touch, looks gold now. The new Elantra is no exception here. It seriously looks breath-takingly good and looks like an elder brother to Verna.
Engine Options:
Hyundai would launch the Elantra in 2 engine options – 126bhp 1.6L diesel and 146bhp 1.8L petrol. Yes, the 1.6L diesel is the same mill from Verna. AutoCar has already driven the car and here are a few excerpts from their first ride.
Prominent Features of the car:
Price & Competition:
We expect Hyundai to price this car between the 13 lakh to 17 lakh bracket to enable it to compete head-on with
