New Mahindra Scorpio Launched at Rs 7.98 Lakhs: Variants, Pics & Details

After several spy shots, official teasers, and loads of road testing Mahindra has finally launched new Scorpio facelift today at a starting price of Rs 7.98 lakhs. Almost everything about the new vehicle has already been discussed in the last fortnight or so and now it’s officially out that it’s a comprehensive makeover and not just a minor niptuck job, with the same set of engine options.

Hidden from the naked eye there is a new gearbox and a new chassis on the new Scorpio, while interiors have been overhauled too and other than the novelty factor and being more aesthetically pleasing now they have also resulted in better ergonomics.

Scorpio Variants & Prices:

  • New Scorpio comes in 5 variants…
  • Mahindra Scorpio S2: Rs 7.98 Lakhs
  • Mahindra Scorpio S4: Rs 8.60 Lakhs
  • Mahindra Scorpio S6: Rs 9.77 Lakhs
  • Mahindra Scorpio S8: Rs 10.84 Lakhs
  • Mahindra Scorpio S10: Rs 11.46 Lakh

One can see the comprehensive upgrades made to SUV and while the addition of creature-comforts would entice more buyers, the under-the-skin changes and upgrades should make the Scorpio way more dynamically sorted than before. However, we can check and tell you about that only after a detailed road test. Mahindra also claims that the turning radius has come down from 5.6 m to 5.4 m for the 2WD models while it remains 5.6 m for the 4WD variants. And you can opt for 4WD in S4 and S10 trim levels, which are like the LX and VLX, respectively, of the outgoing model, so no changes there…

It seems that Mahindra has made things way tougher now for the Tata Safari Storme and should snatch back its share from the Duster that it had continued to lose for quite some time now. However, Renault has launched the new Duster AWD yesterday and it would be interesting to how both these vehicles fare against each other in the sales game.
