More Powerful Hyundai Eon 1.0L Bookings Open, Prices Revealed

Strong rumours had been floating around for quite some time now regarding a big hearted Hyundai Eon! Autocar has finally revealed that the Eon 1.0 is now open for bookings along with its prices.

The new engine is reportedly the same 997cc 3-cylinder motor which does duty on the European i10. It produces 69PS of power and 95Nm of torque. Hyundai claims a top speed of 149kmph and a 0-100kmph acceleration figures of 14.5 seconds for the European i10. In comparison, current 0.8L Eon produces 56PS of power and 74Nm of torque.

Eon 1.0L will be a direct rival to Alto K10 (which is also expected to get a facelift & AMT later this year) as well as the newly launched Datsun GO.

The Eon had been clocking fairly good volumes of around 7000-8000 units per month but it is no secret that the 814cc mill felt a bit underpowered specially when loaded and on highways. Bigger Eon 1.0L will carry the good looks and features forward along with an increase in power and it is almost sure to get Hyundai more volumes.

Hyundai Eon 1.0 Variant & Price:

The new engine will only be available in the Magna Plus variant. Autocar India reports Eon 1.0 to be priced at 3.85 lacs ex-showroom Mumbai for the metallic colour option. We connected with a few local dealers in Delhi which revealed the prices as Rs 3,83,130 for non-metallic colours and Rs 3,86,623 for the metallic colours.

The Eon is a loaded car for this segment and with this new engine it will surely be a welcome boost. Bookings are already underway and deliveries will start next month. However, we still await an official communication from Hyundai.
