It has been barely a few days when Land Rover officially unveiled their new Range Rover Sport in New York. Land Rover also confirmed that the new Range Rover Sport will be launched in as many as 169 markets all over the world.
And here are the first murmurs of the Evoque-inspired New Range Rover Sport being considered for India as well. Rohin Nagrani, Road Test Editor at BS Motoring has predicted that the new offering will be launched in India around the festive season.
He also predicts that prices might start somewhere around Rs 85-95 Lakhs. Now, if this goes true this would be remarkably cheaper than the regular Range Rover that made way into India at a price of 1.72 Crore in November 2012.
The new Range Rover Sport comes in smaller engine configurations than the regular Range Rover. It is powered by two 3.0L diesel mills and two petrol mills one of which is a 3.0L V6 motor and the other one is the biggest in line 5.0L V8 supercharged mill. On the other hand the regular Range Rover was launched with a 4.4L V8 diesel as well as the 5.0L V8 petrol. It was very recently that LR introduced the smallest 3.0L TDV6 diesel engine to the lineup of the regular Range Rover.
With an expected lower entry price to own the big Land Rover, it might just be a runaway success for the company. And specially the meaner Evoque like looks are sure to please many. We will keep you updated as and things build up.
