Its not that we see such a hype for the non-growing D-Segment sedan segment in India frequently. However, the new Octavia seems to have bucked the trend and has received an overwhelming initial response.
It seems people have found the connect what the earlier Octavia left. In an official communication, Skoda informs us that the new Octavia has registered over 1000 bookings within a small span of 3 weeks since the car was launched in India. Interestingly, Skoda calls the new Octavia a C+ segment car! (Now which C-segment car in India starts for 15 Lakhs and goes over 20 Lakhs on road!)
Octavia sports 3 engines – 140PS 1.4L TSI and 180PS 1.8L TSI in petrol and 320Nm 2.0L TDI in diesel. It gets both automatic as well as manual transmission options and in both fuels. Octavia is the first car from Skoda which carries its latest design language in India,
A few days back Skoda also launched online booking of Octavia which would have definitely helped pull up some figures. It would be an interesting read when we will come to know Octavia’s ultimate sales out of these bookings.
Currently, Skoda is concentrating a lot on Rapid and Octavia and has launched many customer oriented initiatives to pull people to its showrooms.
Octavia, in terms of specs, does seem to be a real game changer in the segment and we wish it does well.
