Now this is real interesting! Guys at Gaadiwaadi.com have shared some pics of a ‘different’ looking Swift at the Maruti’s Manesar plant’s parking lot.
They claim that this is the new upcoming Swift ‘Sports’ but we aren’t really sure to pass on this as a confirmed news bit.
However, let us list the changes we can notice on these cars:
- DRLs: Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) very similar to the international Swift facelift.
- Alloy Wheels: Different alloy wheels from the current ZDI/ZXI.
- New Red-Color: Moreover, we also spot that the red colored car here sports the red color of the earlier-gen Swift which was brighter than the current-gen.
They also claim that there are rear disc brakes but frankly speaking, we just can not figure them out in these pics. Now comes the next question – What upcoming variant of Swift is this?
This just doesn’t give us enough confidence to call it as the upcoming Swift facelift for India. So, this could be some new top of the line variant which may sit over the current ZDI and ZXI. With the earlier limited edition Swifts, we have not really seen any mechanical changes, but there may be a difference here.
This new variant, to justify whatever premium over the current ‘Z’ variants Maruti will ask for, may come with a more powerful petrol or a diesel mill. If this happens, the 1.3L DDIS may get the 90PS tune with Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) and if there is a petrol on offer, it may be the 1.4L K-Series motor from Ertiga.
Yes, there are a lot of ifs and buts here but what this scoop has ensured is that Maruti is definitely preparing some ‘new’ variant of their fantastic Swift for a launch possibly around or before Diwali. Let us see if we can get some more concrete info on this…
