The next generation 2017 Swift has been leaked in a series of pics including interior shots
One of India’s most favourite hatchback has been selling crazy for over a decade now and Suzuki thinks it is time for a model change. Playing it safe the company has kept the design philosophy of the current model intact and has played around with a shell which looks very similar to the current model.
Sharing the lightweight platform of the Baleno, the new 2017 Swift will definitely be lighter. Gaining on structural rigidity it will also be safer than its predecessor. Power is expected to be from the same 1.2 litre K series petrol mill. The 1.3 Liter Multijet diesel may also continue but there is a possibility of an indigenous motor as well. Moreover, since it is coming on the Baleno and others, we believe the 1.0 Liter turbocharged Boosterjet petrol engine will also be on offer.
The front end gets a large hexagonal grille with angular head lamp and a floating roofline. A small roof mounted spoiler can also be seen in these images shared by the folks at Auto Express.
Interestingly the car is wrapped with body cladding which might signify the possibility of a crossover version on the likes of the i20 Active and Cross Polo. We are not sure if we like the Figo-cum-Pulse like front but the rear is sporty. There are two exhausts poking out of that dual-tone bumper. The wrap around tail lamps may get an LED treatment. The rear door handle is not to be seen so it must have been embedded into that C-pillar like Chevy Beat and KUV100.
In terms of interiors, the car gets a new dashboard which has been divided into two halves. A large touch screen infotainment system is seen which can be a derivative of the SmartPlay system seen in the Baleno. The air con vents are new and so is the steering wheel and driver instrumentation.
