Next-Gen Hyundai i20 Spied Completely Uncamouflaged! Launching Soon!

The next generation of Hyundai’s flagship hatchback, the i20, has been doing the testing rounds on public roads for quite some time now, but the test mules were always heavily camouflaged.

A few days back completely uncamouflaged spyshots made way onto the interweb but the online media was requested to pull them down by the company. In a new update, a Team Bhp member, deetjohn has managed to capture a completely undisguised sample of the upcoming Next-Gen i20 from almost all angles.

For the first time in seven years one can now use the word ‘muscular’ in the context of i20’s design. Where the 2012 facelift appeared to be ‘younger’ and ‘striking’ design, the latest iteration is much cleaner and mature. The front this time around looks European and the most impressive.

The new bumper houses a large honeycomb grille and the restyled fog lamps seem to have grown in size as well. The headlamps are not just massive but intricately designed too. The bonnet is comparatively flatter now and makes the car look broader when viewed head-on.

Moving on to the sides, the typical fluidic sleekness has been toned down and the new car looks understated in profile now. I find the new car more elegant though I am not a fan of the blacked-out D-pillar. The rear is a mixed bag; no one will mistake those taillamps for any other car but it somehow does not gel too well with the rest of rear design. Also, the way that rear bumper extends at either end, below the reflectors, could have been avoided.

Now that the cat is out of the bag, expect a launch around the festive season or earlier with the same three engine options – the 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre petrols and the 1.4-litre diesel. A good job nonetheless Hyundai!
