Next-Gen Thar Rendered by Fan – Looks Real Good!

Fan renders Next-Gen Thar. See how subtle changes can make it look contemporary…

Mahindra Thar is one of the best off-roaders available in the country in the affordable range. With a proven 2,498 cc CRDe mill producing 105 hp of maximum power and 247 Nm of peak torque, Thar is adequately powered for doing what it does best (though we prefer the crude DI for hardcore off-roading). Mahindra introduced the slightly updated Thar back in July 2015 which carried a few cosmetic changes and a segment first mechanical locking rear differential.

One fan shared his idea of the next-gen Thar on social media and posted his imaginative rendering pics on a Facebook group 4×4 India. Please bear in mind that these are just an artist/fan’s imagination and it may bear no resemblance with the actual Next-Gen Thar.

Talking about the changes – the grille has been redesigned and it shows that a simple vertical to horizontal movement can do wonders to its looks. The overall face is much more contemporary now.

The badging too has been moved to the grille and is bordered by LED head lamps. The front bumper has been made broader; adds muscle and the side indicators are now embedded (into the mudguard) units. There is a subtle Jeep touch to it!

The side profile shows off smoothened edges and the rear wheel arch has been given an edgy look (instead of round) and there appears to be minor mods to the tail lamp as well.

Thar CRDe, at the moment, is available at a price tag of Rs 8,63,405 whereas DI has been priced at Rs 5,71,662 and Rs 6,23,980 for 2WD and 4WD versions respectively (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). So, what are your views – should Mahindra carry some styling cues from this fan rendering over to the Next-Gen Thar?
