Regulars on Motorbash would be quite familiar with our exclusive reporting of updated Evalia clicked doing ARAI testing earlier this year (Pic below). Looks like the refreshed Nissan Evalia with a series of improvements will break cover this October according to a report from Overdrive.in.
Nissan’s hope on Evalia setting the sales charts ringing did not quite materialize as they wanted. The basic boxy silhouette, spartan-looking bench-styled seats in the middle row and missing goodies like steering mounted controls, rear wiper made Evalia a damp squib in sales.
In what is to be a minor improvement over the existing Evalia, the following are the changes that the new updated Evalia refresh will come along with:
- The basic boxy design will remain untouched
- Better interiors with optional captain seats for improved comfort for the middle row
- Introduction of proper middle row sliding windows from the current ‘pathetic’ butterfly ones!
- Better quality upholstery
- Rear Wiper
- Rear Defogger
- Steering Mounted Controls
Many of these changes have already been incorporated in the recently launched cousin Ashok Leyaland Stile MPV. Even with these changes Evalia will not be able to hold the candle against the contemporary styled Ertiga or the mass market favorite Innova is what we feel. If Nissan wants some serious game changer in the MPV segment, they should start from addressing the uninspiring styling of Evalia and make it more luring.
However, its nice to see Nissan starting from sorting out the basic issues in the car first. Currently the Evalia sees paltry 200 odd average monthly take homes which might see some boost in festive season with these tweaks.
The launch of the refreshed Evalia is expected within ten odd days in this month of October. We do not expect any kind of pricing changes and if Nissan does increase the price, they will be doing themselves a lot of bad!
