A teaser pic which also reveals the Datsun grille apart from a few lines has also been made public. This is in line with the earlier reports that Datsun will go official towards the middle of 2013 with products coming in later.

The first Datsun model will be a 5-door hatchback which will share the same 1.2L petrol motor from Micra and there are no diesel variants that have been planned as of now. Starting price of this car is touted to be around Rs 3 lakhs and Nissan intends to target the Hyundai i10 with it.

At the occasion, it is expected that Mr Ghosn will also unveil this first Datsun car which will make an official entry towards the middle of next year. It is also said that Datsun cars will be different designs rather than just rebadge jobs of existing Nissan cars. Nissan expects to sell between 1.5 to 2 Lakh Datsun cars in India every year.
