SPIED: Longer Ford Ka (Figo) Sedan Spied in Brazil for the First Time

The upcoming Ford Ka sedan has been spied for the first time, thanks to a reader of Noticias Automotivas. The test vehicle was spotted in Brazil, with camouflage dotting over a portion of its body.

The Brazilian Ka sedan is essentially a longer version of the sub-4 meter Figo sedan that Ford unveiled in India very recently. Both the Figo and the Ka sedan are based on the same platform and Ford has used lighter and stronger advanced materials on the construction of their chassis.

Since the Ka sedan has commenced its road trial phase in Brazil, we expect it to hit he showrooms by this year. The Indian market will similarly get the below-4-meter Figo sedan. The Ka sedan has been designed by the Brazilian subsidiary of Ford, the same one that did the work on the Ford EcoSport.

In Brazil, this Ka sedan will get the option of Fords 1.0L EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine which we have experienced on EcoSport. Despite the fact that the unveiling of both the cars took place around the similar time, Brazil may get theirs earlier than India. There is also a hatchback which was unveiled and, though Ford India has not talked about it, we believe it will also come to us. (More details & spyshots)

Ford has no plans of launching the Figo Concept sedan in India within this year and we can safely assume Ford to bring it to us sometime next year. The display car that was used for unveiling did not even have its interiors ready.

It is too early to predict anything about the engines it will come with, but common sense predicts that Ford should offer the 1.0L EcoBoost petrol along with the 1.5L diesel motor from the EcoSport. The 1.5L Ti-VCT petrol will take away the excise duty benefits and hence we do not see it coming on this car.
