So have we started to witness the expected grand impact of EcoSport in the Rs 5-10 Lakh car segment of India? And the first to fell prey appears to be Mahindra’s Quanto which price-wise, size-wise is the real competitor for EcoSport.
Mahindra has started to follow the discounts/offers route for Quanto which begun its Indian innings on a fairly good note when it was launched in India last year. But during the course of time, it has lost its sheen which can be seen from its falling monthly sales numbers.
The oncoming of Ford’s EcoSport further creates an issue for Quanto and a big one at that! To catapult its sales, Mahindra is offering a discount/offers of upto Rs 44,000 on Quanto and has been advertising it aggressively. We contacted a local dealership here in Pune to know the break-up and sadly, the sales guy was not prepared for this. Here is what he told us:
- Free Insurance
- Exchange Bonus of Rs 10,000
- Corporate/Government Discount of Rs 6000
These do not add upto Rs 44,000 and he has promised us a call back soon. Nonetheless, a better way will be for you to go and check out the respective prices and offers in your city at your local dealer. Hope he will know about it.
Current On-Road Price of Mahindra Quanto
- Mahindra Quanto C2: Rs 7.09 Lakhs
- Mahindra Quanto C4: Rs 7.71 Lakhs
- Mahindra Quanto C6: Rs 8.25 Lakh
- Mahindra Quanto C8: Rs 8.83 Lakh
These prices are on-road in Pune and do not include the discounts and offers of Rs 44,000
Now compare them to the prices of EcoSport Diesel in Pune
- EcoSport 1.5 TDCI Ambiente: Rs 7.97 Lakh
- EcoSport 1.5 TDCI Trend : Rs 9.04 Lakh
- EcoSport 1.5 Titanium: Rs 10.21 Lakh
- EcoSport 1.5 Titanium Plus: Rs 10.66 Lakh
Do you think, these discounts will help Quanto snatch back any sales from EcoSport? And if you do not, then Mahindra is preparing a monocoque sub-4 meter compact SUV just for you. You can have all the details here.
