Continuing with their new car launch plans Maruti Suzuki has rolled out an invite for an event on June 3, 2015. Although they have not specified anything about the car they are planning to launch but that is nothing but the Celerio Diesel! Maruti is calling it as a ‘Revolutionary Game Changer’ and this car holds a special meaning for the company. It will carry Suzuki’s first indigenous diesel engine, success or failure of which will decide the future coarse for the company in term of diesel powertrains!
According to the details that have been revealed so far, Celerio diesel will churn out 47 PS of maximum power and 125 Nm of peak torque from its 793cc two cylinder motor. The same engine will also go to other cars in the stable and may rewrite new rules for small diesel engines! This twin cylinder engine will also be housed in Maruti Suzuki’s first commercial vehicle, codenamed Y9T and churns out 27.62 kmpl on the Celerio making it India’s most fuel efficient car!
The invite reads as “launch of another revolutionary game changer” and has a rather interesting riddle which goes as:
“A move that will redefine black and white. A move that will re-write history and write the future.”

A tiny diesel mill in the Celerio has a lot of potential to tap into a wide market of small diesel car lovers. Currently, Beat diesel is the smallest diesel car in the country. However, it remains to be seen how Maruti prices it to create a substantial difference from a much bigger Ritz!
