So the much awaited fuel efficiency figures for Maruti’s next shot Celerio are out. The car is capable of returning mileage figures of 23.1kmpl as certified by ARAI.
This has been revealed by the advertisement that Maruti has carried out at a local newspaper in Bhopal. Here is the firsthand info that is revealed:
- Apart from Automated Manual Transmission aka AMT (which will be promoted as EZ DRIVE TECHNOLOGY), Celerio will also come equipped with the regular 5-speed manual transmission.
- Maruti has started with the promotions and bookings of Celerio
- The 23.1kmpl fuel efficiency is for both Manual transmission as well as the AMT Transmission.
With the ‘Coming Soon’ teaser, Maruti has also signalled its official launch which is expected to happen at the Auto Expo in a few days from now.
Celerio will continue with the 1.0L K-series petrol engine, power specs of which are still not known. In the current crop of cars like WagonR and Alto K10, this 3-cylinder motor produces 67bhp of power output and 90Nm of torque. Celerio will also get an 800cc diesel but it will come a lot later.
Here is how Celerio’s fuel efficiency figures stack up against its own siblings which use the same engine:
- Alto K10: 20.92kmpl
- Estilo: 19kmpl
- A-Start: 19kmpl
So, clearly Maruti has worked a lot on the car’s efficiency and it stands more than 4kmpl higher than Estilo and A-Star and over 2kmpl against the Alto K10.
We expect Celerio to start at somewhere around Rs 3.7 Lakhs ex-showroom Delhi and span across till 5 odd lakhs. With the Celerio, Maruti is filling the gap created by Maruti A-Star and Estilo.
