Maruti Ertiga Facelift Spotted: Is it getting the AMT?

The success of the Mobilio is a serious problem for Maruti. Just until recently, the Ertiga seemed to be practically ruling the segment this side of the Innova. With more competition coming soon in the form of the Renault Lodgy, the 7-seater MPV segment is only bound to get tougher. The Life Utility Vehicle, as Maruti calls the Ertiga, was launched in April 2012 and is finally due to get a minor facelift to keep it looking fresh in the face of the upcoming competition.

Audi A3 Cabriolet Launched: A 242 km/h drop-top for 44.75 lakh!

Audi has just launched the A3 Cabriolet in India at a price of INR 44.75 lakh (ex-showroom) in Delhi. That makes it the cheapest convertible sedan available in our country. And as we had speculated, the car has indeed been launched only with a petrol engine.

Audi A3 Cabriolet Launch

That 1.8-litre TFSI motor puts out 177 horses and 250 Nm, and all that power is sent to the front wheels via Audi’s 7-Speed S-Tronic dual-clutch transmission. The company offers a Quattro option with a 220 bhp petrol engine abroad but that would have perhaps crossed the 50-lakh-rupee mark here.

Launched only as a diesel variant, the new XF Executive Edition sports the 2.2-litre engine, which until now could only be found under the hood of the Luxury version that costs INR 49.38 lakh (ex-showroom) in Delhi. The latest edition has been priced at INR 45.12 lakh (ex-showroom, pre-octroi) in Mumbai making it the cheapest Jaguar you can buy in India right now.

XF executive edition

‘Cheap’ sounds like a misnomer here actually when you are talking about a segment where there are cars like this one along with the Audi A6, BMW 5-Series, and Mercedes E-Class. Nevertheless, the XF has become more accessible now. But in the process, in the Executive Edition guise, it has lost out on some of the features of the Luxury XF like the Rearview Camera, Memory Function for the driver seat and mirrors, Front Passenger Seat Away button, and Sunroof among a few others.

Audi will be launching the A3 Cabriolet in India this week on Thursday. Yes the World Car of the Year 2014 has a convertible sibling, and she looks pretty! The Cabriolet was first displayed in India at this year’s Auto Expo in February, and it did make a lot of people salivate. The car though was showcased to increase the interest among the prospective buyers, attracting them towards the A3 sedan.

A3 Cabriolet

The single biggest attraction of the A3 Cabriolet is undoubtedly the fabric roof which can be taken off or put back on at just the push of a button. The roof fabric rests on a lightweight kinematic skeleton (magnesium steel) so it can be operated even when the car is moving at 50 km/h. Plus, 18 seconds is all it takes for the convertible to lose its, er, top.
