So, what if the excise duties will remain the same for this year, manufacturers have different reasons for price hikes. Out of the blue, Renault has shot a mailer announcing a price hike on their most popular cars including Duster.
Though the quantum of hike is 1 percent officially, it will add up to a lot more on the on road prices. The reason cited by the French car maker are high input costs which has driven the cost of components that go into their cars. This hike is already in effect from 01 July ie yesterday.
The cars included in the price hike are Duster compact SUV, Scala sedan and Pulse hatchback. This means that the prices of the slow seller Evalia MPV and new launches 2014 Fluence as well as new Koleos Crossover have not been affected by this hike.
Renault has not shared the new prices in the press release. Though its not mentioned specifically, but prices of both Scala Travelogue Edition as well as the Duster 1 Lakh limited edition would also see a minor rise.
On the product front, Renault’s MD has confirmed that India will get the Duster 4WD within this year which is expected to be more feature rich and cosmetically different from the international version. More Details here.
