Production Version of Next-Gen Endeavour Showcased; Indian Launch Next Year [Pic Gallery]

Ford’s Endeavour is a very capable SUV which has seen a sharp decline in sales. Also, it falls flat in front of the Toyota Fortuner. To give you an idea, in October Toyota sold 1,491 units of the Fortuner while Ford managed to sell only 9 units of the Endeavour in India!

The well-built SUV by the America manufacturer received a minor mid-life cosmetic update a few months back but it seems the life of the current SUV is long gone and not much can change its fortunes, apart from the next-gen model.

Bringing its shape in line with the rest of the Ford family, Ford will launch the all-new Endeavour in nine markets which include China, Australia, New Zealand, India and other ASEAN countries. They also have plans to introduce the Endeavour/Everest in sub-Saharan countries and South Africa.

After showcasing the concept version many months back, the company has released pics of the final production version that will be launched in the markets we have talked about. The front grille is now shaped in the familiar trapezoidal shape, sharing a family look. The front end turns out to be more muscular than the outgoing version and it also sports LED daytime running lights.

The interiors are new and sport a simple yet elegant look. The new Endeavour gets features like the Sync 2 enabled 8 inch touchscreen music system with voice commands. The touchscreen system also gets the usual plethora of goodies like Bluetooth, multimedia and climate controls. A new Active Noise Cancellation is also present in the new Endeavour which uses sound absorbing materials throughout the SUV and optimizes cabin sealing. It gets 30 storage spaces and multiple power outlets at the front and the second row of seats.

Being a true blue SUV it gets a new four wheel drive system with Torque on Demand and a Terrain Management System. The ground clearance has been kept at a good 225 mm and the new Endeavour claims to have a water-wading capability of 800 mm.

Talking about engines, Ford has three engine options for the world:

  • A new 2.0 L EcoBoost petrol with which the company boasts of excellent torque, power and refinement with best in class fuel economy.
  • A new generation 2.2 L Duratorq four cylinder TDCi diesel engine centred towards fuel economy.
  • A range topping 3.2 L Duratorq five cylinder TDCi diesel mill for maximum power and torque. It also gets an updated exhaust gas recirculation system to boost efficiency.

In India, when it launches towards the middle of next year, it seems Ford will follow the philosophy of the Fiesta and launch the new Endeavour only with the diesel engines.
