While Brazil (and the whole world) is immersed in the euphoria of the FIFA World Cup, Ford Brazil has very quietly released the first official production images of the upcoming Figo based sedan, which will be called as Ka+.

They have, just a few days back, unveiled the production version of Ka hatchback. Unlike the Ka, it does not get the familiar honeycomb front radiator grille. It retains the same horizontal lines revealed first in the concept model. It gets a different set of alloy wheels. The headlamp cluster also has simpler looks.

The Ka+ is scheduled to be released first in Brazil. It must be remembered that Brazilian Ka+ is a slightly longer car than the sub 4-meter Figo sedan which will be launched here.

Both the Ka and Ka+ will get the new 1.0L three pot ethanol mix ECONECTIC engine, which appears to have some connection with the 1.0L EcoBoost petrol engine we have known. The naturally aspirated petrol/ethanol engine produces 85PS of power and 105Nm of torque.

The ECOnetic engine boasts of a new engine technology which varies the intake and exhaust valve timings as per the need. The cooling system is a twin stage unit. The engine has also been structured in a way to reduce vibrations and does not need a separate apparatus for cold start.

In India, the proper EcoBoost is expected to be plonked along with the diesel engines. There is a possibility of different tunes though. The interiors of the car are still unknown but in an alleged dashboard snapshot of the car revealed a few days back, there is this unmistakable Ford identity to it.

With this naming convention, it is possible that Ford India may also call the sedan as Figo+. The sub 4 meter will compete against Maruti Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and the soon to be released Tata Zest. And going by EcoSport’s pricing, we can expect both Figo and Figo sedan to be priced aggressively. Launch is expected sometime early next year.
