Deprived of good-to-drive petrol engines, we have very limited choices in our country. One petrol motor which we love to drive is Fiat’s 1.4 liter turbocharged T-Jet! Currently offered on the Linea, it will find a place on the Avventura as well as the Punto hatchback. The Punto Evo with this motor was spotted recently by a Team-BHP member again and there are some more details that have been revealed.
According to the report, a Fiat test engineer claimed that the T-jet engine on Punto will produce a peak power output of about 105 bhp and maximum torque of 185 Nm, since it reportedly uses a different turbocharger. In comparison, the Linea T-Jet churns out 114PS of maximum power and a very impressive 207 Nm of torque but is rated at a fuel economy of only 15.7 kmpl. So Fiat is possibly detuning the engine in order to achieve a better fuel efficiency from the fun-to-drive motor on the hatch!
The current Punto is powered by 1.2 liter and 1.4 liter naturally aspirated petrol engine (apart from the 1.3 liter Multijet diesel) and after the launch of the T-jet, Fiat may bid adieu to the bigger petrol motor in the current lineup.

The report also says that Punto EVO T-jet is expected to get disc brakes on all 4 wheel and possibly bigger tyres as well. They say Fiat only plans to launch it sometime after March next year which is still many months away! The same motor is expected to go on the Avventura as well.
