The recent revelation Renault Duster is also a fantastic seller in Brazil. According to the sales figures published by noticiasautomotivas.com, Renault Duster is the best selling SUV for the last month by registering sales of over 5000 sales.
Duster is also the top seller in cumulative sales for this year followed closely by Ford’s current EcoSport. Remember, this is NOT the upcoming EcoSport which we have been seeing so frequently nowadays.
Brazil would be the first country to get the new EcoSport in the world. And when that happens, these equations might see a swing. In India, the largest selling SUV is Mahindra Bolero which clocks 8000-9000 units monthly. And with the launch of Duster and upcoming EcoSport in India, it would be worth an interesting watch how would these two compact SUVs perform.
Generally, Indians want big, spacious and rugged SUVs which they can afford easily. Would these new brigade of 5-seater SUVs break this mindset. We will have to wait and see probably the same time of next year when Duster would have settled down to a consistent number and EcoSport would have made way. Mahindra would have also launched its mini-Xylo, Premier, its RIO 1.3 Multijet diesel etc.
