If we take Duster’s sales away from Renault’s tally, its performance in India could best be described as dismal! Duster has been their single-most largest selling product in India which has propelled them many a notches above the older players!
India is, in fact, Duster’s 4th largest market in the world. We can get an idea about it by this quick fact – Renault has sold over 1 Lakh units of Duster within two years of launch which equates to an average of over 4100 units per month. Even today, Duster outsells EcoSport which is priced much more aggressively (because of whatever reasons!). If we club sibling Terrano to the list, this duo even outsells Scorpio which is the largest selling SUV in the country.
To commensurate Duster’s second anniversary, Renault has announced a new 1 Lakh Limited Edition which will be launched very shortly within this month and will be priced at Rs 9.99 Lakhs ex-showroom across the country. Being a Limited Edition, we can expect it to be available only in lesser quantities. However, what all features will it carry have not been mentioned in the press release.
Very recently, Renault has launched Adventure Editions of Duster in both 110PS and 85PS trims. They come with additional features over and above the standard ones. Renault is also conducting various promotional schemes and offering discounts to propel Duster’s sales amidst the tight competition.
Renault’s MD, Sumeet Sawhney has also revealed that the company will launch the awaited 4 Wheel Drive (4WD) version of Duster within this year, which we believe, may also come with a facelift (more details).
