The next big thing for our market is definitely going to be the new Renault KWID which is an entry level hatchback, very capable of being promoted as a mini-crossover. At its official unveiling Renault talked about the car and showcased it in front of the media, however, they stopped short of leaking more details on its new 800cc engine and its power output.

A report at claims that Kwid’s all-new 0.8 liter petrol motor will produce power output of about 57 bhp which is impressive and should not be a slouch, despite being tiny in size! Further, fuel efficiency figures are also expected to be high and Renault is also working on an automatic variant of Kwid which may come with a rotary shifter.

Apart from a bigger petrol motor (which is expected and officially hinted by Renault), the report says that Kwid may also get a diesel engine (officially quashed by Renault for the moment) sometime next year.

Kwid is the first product from Renault-Nissan’s CMF-A platform and this platform will spawn many more products in the future. The 800cc engine platform is also flexible and Renault has said that they can form various variants of it. Apart from a muscular stance, Kwid will come with a 7-inch touchscreen, digital instrumentation and other features.

Along with its launch during the second half of this year (possibly by Oct), Renault has confirmed that prices of Kwid will be between 3-4 Lakhs which should make it a terrific bargain!
