Renault KWID’s 800cc Engine – First Ever Pics; Spotted on the Roads Uncamouflaged

Testing a car under camouflage after it has been unveiled in the same country seems idiotic to us. Many manufacturers do that for reasons unknown to mankind! After showcasing the production KWID last month in India, it appears that Renault has started its final on-road tests and thankfully without any camo. A MotorBeam.com reader has snapped two test mules of Kwid absolutely uncamouflaged running around somewhere near Bangalore.

Unfortunately, there are no other vehicles these Kwids are running parallel to, to understand how big/small do they appear vis-a-vis. The rear profile is simple but very interesting, and reminds us of the Grand i10’s ass. Additional plastic cladding on the bumper adds muscularity and yes, those puny tyres are a disappointment, we know, however, we are not complaining considering the price point of 3-4 Lakhs Renault has announced they will be selling Kwid at in India.

In another picture set, Evo India has revealed first ever pics of Kwid’s BR8 engine. This 800cc petrol mill will be a 3-cylinder DOHC all-aluminium engine and has been packed in nicely. Evo also claims that, apart from a new 5-Speed gearbox, Kwid will come equipped with an AMT box as well. Power and fuel efficiency figures are expected to be best in the segment.

Kwid is one of the most interesting cars for this year and with the prospects we see at this point, it appears to be the next A-segment Duster in the making for Renault… And well, it is launching around or before the festive season…
