Renault Starts Teasing Kwid AMT on Social Media!

Renault India has started teasing the AMT version of their entry level car, the Kwid. Showcased first at the Auto Expo in February, the Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) will be available only in the 1.0-litre version of the car. The Kwid has met phenomenal success in India thanks to its unconventional looks and high value for money proposition. The French car maker would be hoping to further increase their market share with the Kwid AMT.

The Kwid 1.0-litre version was introduced earlier this year in the month of August. Mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox it churns out 68 PS of maximum power at 5,500 rpm and 98 Nm of peak torque at 4,250 rpm. With a power to weight ratio of 97 PS/ton, the car returns a fuel efficiency of 23.01 kmpl.

The AMT version, which in Renault’s lingo, can be called as Kwid Easy-R, will also retain the same output and fuel efficiency. With their strong track record of competitive pricing, expect the Kwid AMT to have a starting sticker price in the range of Rs 3.99 lakhs to Rs 4.15 lakhs.

In comparison to the competition, that is the Maruti Alto K10 AGS, the Kwid has the same power output but has 8 Nm more of torque. The Maruti’s claimed fuel efficiency of 24.07 kmpl is on the higher side. In terms of pricing though the Alto K10 AGS ranges between Rs 4.05 lakhs to Rs 4.11 lakhs.
