RENDER: So Will the Production XA-Alpha Look Something Like This?

It was the Duster last year and it is the EcoSport this year which is taking all the hog light and we expect a similar response to the next big thing in the making – Maruti Suzuki XA-Alpha.

EcoSport is the closest car which resembles its concept form a lot in production avatar. So, will the XA-Alpha be the next? Maruti kept on display a concept of XA-Alpha last year at Delhi Auto Expo (Pictured below) and it was what we can expect from a concept – fresh, aggressive and mean looking.

A European website Auto Motor has released a quick render (Pictured above) of what they think might be the production form of XA-Alpha. It resembles the concept that we were shown and looks real attractive. What is your take on that?

Meanwhile, XA-Alpha is expected to reach us only towards the end of 2014 or early 2015 which means it is still some time away. The petrol XA-Alpha is expected to be powered by either the 1.2L or 1.4L K-Series engine. However considering the fact that Maruti is designing it as a sub 4 meter car, a logical conclusion points to the 1.2L K-Series from Swift/Dzire/Ritz. The diesel engine duties are expected to be pinned on the only diesel they use – 1.3L Multijet from Fiat.

XA-Alpha concept shown at the Auto Expo was exactly 4000mm long, 1900mm wide and 1600mm high with a wheelbase of 2500mm. What changes will Maruti incorporate on the final production version will be interesting to see. As a first, we know the meaty 255mm wide tyres will get the axe apart from a possible height gain.
