Mercedes is definitely getting to more volume bringing segments. It is expected to launch the new A-series cars here in sometime and here are new spy pics of its B-Class large hatchback published by Autocar.
The car was being tested in Ahmadnagar in Maharashtra. This B-Class looks closer to launch and would be the cheapest Mercedes in India. This B-Class would make the first car from the German car maker which would be based on the new front-wheel drive (MFA) platform. The B-Class looks like a big hatchback or possibly a small MUV but it will be a 5-seater. It will be powered by a 1.8L diesel and new 1.6L turbo petrol engine. There might be a possibility of this car getting the 1.5L K9K engine from Nissan as a part of its new alliance with the Japanese maker. This car is 4.3 meters long with typical Mercedes styled design and quality.
At a price tag in the region of 18 lac, B-Class would undercut the current cheapest in the stable, C-Class by a huge amount.
