Second Gen BMW X6 Launched in India at Rs 1.15 Crores

BMW has launched the new second generation X6 in India for Rs 1.15 crores ex-showroom, Delhi. Brought to India via the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route, the Sports Activity Coupe (as BMW calls it) X6 will be available at all BMW dealerships across the country.

Only the xDrive40d trim is being made available in India which gets a 6 cylinder inline TwinPower Turbo diesel mill which is capable of producing a maximum power output of 312.7 PS and a massive peak torque output of 600 Nm in the range of 1,500 to 2,500 rpm. The transmission is the familiar 8 speed sport automatic gearbox which is capable of pushing the X6 from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.8 second and a top whack of 240 kmph.

For those who want a bit more sporty driving experience, one can even take over gear shifting manually with paddle shifters. You also get the sporty M package as standard fitment which will add sportier bumpers on the outside and M Sport steering wheel. Driving Experience Control is included as standard and comes with an ECO PRO mode which helps bring in additional fuel-saving features such as a coasting function ECO PRO Route, Active Cruise Control and Route Ahead Assistant ( only with Navigation System Professional).

The second generation of the X6 continues with 50-50 weight distribution between the front and rear axles but loses 40 kilos of extra flab. BMW says this has been made possible thanks to a new chassis featuring a lighter aluminium and thermoplastic construction.

Safety features include six airbags, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Hill Descent Control (HDC), side-impact protection, Electronic vehicle immobiliser and crash sensors. The features list includes a high-definition, full-colour BMW Head-Up Display, BMW Selective Beam (the intelligent emergency call with accident severity detection), optional BMW Night Vision with Dynamic light Spot and high-end Surround Sound system from Harmon Kardon.

Apart from a standard boot space of 580 litre, depending on the requirement, the three sections of the backrests can be folded down in a 40:20:40 split to offer an impressive 1,525 litre of luggage space. You also get 19 inch double spoke styled light alloy wheels. The seats at the front are in Dakota leather however, Nappa leather and fine grain Merino leather upholstery are also available. Interior trim are available in American Oak, Fineline Stripe and Poplar Grain fine wood trim.
