European Skoda Rapid is basically based on a similar platform as our popular compact sedan Rapid of India. It is now all set to cruise on the European roads!

At the ongoing Paris Auto Show, Skoda Rapid shed its cover for the European markets and apparently it has received a huge public response.

Unlike the Indian Rapid, the European version of the Rapid will come with different engine and transmission options:

  • 1.2-Litre 3-Cylinder Petrol Engine producing 75 PS
  • 1.2-Litre 3-Cylinder Turbocharged  Petrol producing 86 and 105 PS (In India we have a 1.6-Litre in-line 4 Petrol, producing 105 PS)
  • 1.4-Litre 4-Cylinder Turbocharged Petrol producing 122 PS
  • 1.6-Litre 4-Cylinder TDI CR Diesel Engine producing 105 PS  (Same as the Indian Rapid)
  • Another 1.6-Litre Unit producing 90 PS, to be included in the second half of 2013

 

  • Either 5 or 6 Speed Transmission option (Indian Rapid comes with 6-Speed Transmission)
  • Optional 7-Speed Dual Clutch DSG Gear Box

Other features include:

  • Front and curtain airbags for all variants
  • Tilt and telescopic adjustable steering
  • Height Adjustable driver’s seat
  • Power windows
  • Remote central locking
  • Bluetooth Connectivity
  • 15-Inch/16-Inch Alloy Wheels
  • Cornering fog lights
  • Cruise control
  • Four-spoke multi-functional steering wheel
  • Chrome Tip detailing for interior of the car
  • Body Coloured mirrors and door handles

The European Skoda Rapid will go on sale from November 2012. The prices starts at £12,900 (~ Rs. 11 Lakhs) and goes up to £17,850 (~ Rs. 15 Lakhs).
