Renault is on the verge of launching the brethren of Nissan Sunny and it would be called as Scala. This is what we all know.
What we don’t know as yet is the price point at which Renault would place it in India. If a news snippet of Rediff.com is to be believed, Renault might launch the Scala at a starting price point of 6 Lakh! While many of you might wonder about this, this would still be a little premium over Nissan Sunny which retails at Rs 5.93 Lakh Ex-Showroom Delhi for the base petrol XE variant. Sunny Diesel XL starts at Rs 8.11 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) which is the mid-variant and there is no base XE variant for diesel.
Obviously this is the speculated price for Renault Scala base petrol variant and it would be interesting to see how Renault approaches the diesel customers. While there are reports that Scala would also not be available in base diesel variant, it would be intelligent on Renault’s part if they can introduce a cheaper base diesel variant for Scala (which is not present on Sunny) to make it a more luring buy.
Renault should not create a bigger difference in pricing Scala over Sunny else it would not be able to harness on the ‘VFM‘ tag Sunny has been known for specially for its petrol version.
What is Different in Sunny and Scala?
While the entire front and rear looks are changed in Scala and it would obviously come with Renault badging, nothing much has changed on the interiors though. There are spy pics of Sunny Automatic getting tested, Scala would come with a CVT on its petrol version.
Renault Scala Launch
Renault would launch the Scala on 7th of September and only then we would be able to get all the details of the car.
